Kyle Walker ‘tells Pep Guardiola he wants Bayern Munich move’

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker reportedly tells boss Pep Guardiola that he wants to join Bayern Munich this summer.

Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker has reportedly informed Pep Guardiola of his desire to join Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians are keen to strengthen the right side of their defence this summer amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Benjamin Pavard.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has identified Walker as one of his top targets, and he has attempted to convince the right-back to make the switch to the Bundesliga.

A recent report claimed that Walker had reached a verbal agreement with Bayern to complete a move to Germany.

With 12 months remaining on the player’s current deal, Man City were hoping to ward off interest by tying him down to a new contract.

However, according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Walker has informed Guardiola that he wants to join Bayern ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The England international has already agreed personal terms with Bayern over a two-year deal, which includes an option to extend by an additional 12 months.

Although there are no agreements in place between the two clubs, the Bavarians are preparing to submit their first official offer.

The experienced right-back is currently preparing for Man City’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea after being named in the 25-man squad.

Since joining the club from Sheffield United in July 2017, Walker has gone on to make 254 appearances, contributing six goals and 18 assists.

Walker, who has earned 76 caps for England, has won multiple honours with the Citizens, including five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups and the Champions League.

Having spent the entirety of his playing career in England, Walker is seemingly keen to try a fresh challenge in Germany.

While Walker’s future is currently unclear, Man City are set to lose Riyad Mahrez after they agreed a £34.7m fee with Al-Ahli.
