Chelsea have reportedly made the breakthrough in negotiations over a new long-term contract with Levi Colwill.

Since the end of last season, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have been focused on ensuring that the Premier League club stay on the right side of FFP at a time when they do not have European football on their calendar.

That has generally meant that players who have two years or less on their contracts are available for the right price, as was the case with Conor Gallagher as recently as last week.

However, from the moment that Mauricio Pochettino arrived through the door at Stamford Bridge, the Argentine is said to have made clear that he views Colwill as an integral part of his plans.

Chelsea, Juventus ‘negotiating Lukaku, Vlahovic swap deal’

Chelsea and Juventus are reportedly holding discussions regarding a potential swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic.

When the two players signed for their respective clubs in 2021 and 2022, they were deemed to be the solution for their issues in the final third.

However, despite partial success for each player, both high-profile names want to leave their teams, who are happy to cash in for the right price.

If reports are to be believed, Chelsea are looking to recoup in the region of €40m (£34.27m) for Lukaku, a considerable drop from the £97.5m that they paid Inter Milan two years.

Queens Park Rangers have signed Jack Colback on a free transfer following his release by Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

The 33-year-old midfielder was a free agent after leaving Forest at the end of his contract, and he has now put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Championship side QPR.

The club also have the option of extending that for a further year, potentially keeping Colback at Loftus Road until 2026.

“I’m happy and excited to get going. It will be nice to get the training kit on and get out there with the lads,” he told the club’s website.

Arsenal ‘pursuing move for Frankfurt midfielder Sow’

Djibril Sow warms up for Eintracht Frankfurt in August 2022

Arsenal have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow as a potential summer signing.

Since qualifying for next season’s Champions League, boss Mikel Arteta has been proactive in his search for new players, already spending in the region of £200m on a trio of stars.

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Chelsea forward Kai Havertz have all made the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

In the short term, the Gunners are seemingly under pressure to recoup some funds through player sales, the only notable exits thus far coming via Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka.

Queens Park Rangers announce Jack Colback signing

“I’m happy and excited to get going,” Colback told QPR’s official website. “It will be nice to get the training kit on and get out there with the lads.

“I’m excited to be part of what the manager wants to do here. It was an easy decision.”

“This is a tough league, it’s relentless,” the midfielder added. “I am well used to that and prepared for it. Success in this division takes a lot of work, you have to be ready to do the ugly side of the game. That’s the difference between the two levels in terms of the Championship and the Premier League.

“There’s a difference in terms of the tactics, too. In this division you will come up against teams who want to play football a lot, and you will come up against teams who will be in your face and more direct, which is something you don’t get as much in the Premier League.”

Transfer rumours: Scamacca to Inter, Goncalves to Villa, Guaita future

Inter Milan have reportedly made a verbal proposal for West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.

The 24-year-old endured a miserable first season in the Premier League following his arrival from Sassuolo, managing a mere three goals in 16 top-flight outings.

A season-ending knee injury also hampered Scamacca’s debut year at the London Stadium, and he is already being linked with a departure from the Europa Conference League winners.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter have now made their first move for Scamacca and have tabled a verbal bid of €20m (£17.1m), but it is unknown if West Ham will be prepared to accept.
