Manchester United to block Dean Henderson move to Nottingham Forest?

Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to sanction a departure for Nottingham Forest target Dean Henderson due to medical fears.

Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to sanction a medical for Nottingham Forest target Dean Henderson.

The Man United goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a permanent move to Forest after spending the 2022-23 season on loan with Steve Cooper‘s side.

Henderson kept six clean sheets in 20 appearances for the Tricky Trees, before he sustained a thigh injury in January.

After making progress in his recovery, Henderson suffered a setback and subsequently underwent an operation in May.

Despite returning to his parent club following the end of his loan spell, Henderson is unlikely to gain regular playing time at Old Trafford following the arrival of Andre Onana this summer.

Forest are keen to bring Henderson back to the City Ground on a permanent basis, but according to The Sun, Man United are reluctant to sanction his departure due to medical fears.

The report claims that Henderson has not fully recovered from his thigh problem despite making progress in training.

Man United are concerned that a strenuous medical could aggravate Henderson’s injury and leave him on the sidelines for a longer period.

The two clubs are prepared to wait until the shot-stopper makes a full recovery, before they allow him to complete a medical as a new Forest player.

The Tricky Trees remain hopeful that a deal can be completed before the transfer window closes at the start of September.

While they wait for Henderson to return to full fitness, Forest are expected to strengthen their goalkeeping department with the addition of Matt Turner.

They have agreed a £10m deal with Arsenal for the USA international, who is now set to undergo a medical with the East Midlands club.

Turner could be given a chance to make his debut against the Gunners when Forest welcome travel to the Emirates Stadium for Saturday’s season opener.
