Liverpool to revive interest in Andre after Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia snubs?

Liverpool are reportedly set to renew their pursuit of Fluminense midfielder Andre, with Romeo Lavia expected to join Moises Caicedo at Chelsea.

Liverpool are reportedly set to revive their interest in Fluminense midfielder Andre if they fail to sign Romeo Lavia.

The Reds are desperate to add strength in depth to the middle of the park after seeing their midfield options weakened by a flurry of departures.

James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left at the end of last season following the expiry of their contracts, while Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have completed moves to the Saudi Pro League.

World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister has been brought in from Brighton & Hove Albion, but more midfield additions are still required if Liverpool are to compete towards the top of the Premier League table.

They looked poised to sign Moises Caicedo after having a £110m bid accepted, but the player was keen to join Chelsea, who managed to reach an agreement with Brighton over a £115m deal.

Liverpool turned their full focus to Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, submitting a £60m bid which was subsequently accepted by the Saints.

However, for the second time in a matter of days, they look set to lose out on a transfer target to their Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Belgium international has indicated that he would prefer to move to the Blues, with talks ongoing between Chelsea and Southampton over a potential transfer.

With Lavia seemingly close to completing a move to Mauricio Pochettino‘s side, Liverpool are now evaluating potential alternatives.

According to The Mirror, the Merseyside club are considering whether to renew their pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Andre.

The Reds were linked with the 22-year-old earlier this summer after being impressed by his performances for Fluminense.

Andre progressed through the youth ranks of the Brazilian side, before establishing himself as a regular fixture of the first team.

Since making his professional debut in September 2020, Andre has gone on to make 147 competitive appearances for the club, registering three goals and three assists.

Andre has caught the attention of his national side and subsequently made his Brazil debut in June, featuring as a second-half substitute in a defeat to Senegal.

With over three years left to run on the player’s contract, Fluminense will be in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a transfer fee.
